Busy Weekend Ahead!

Left to right: 2010 Doelings Rhyme, Zerelda and Thymeless Treasure
It's that time of year when decisions have to be made regarding the herd. Who gets sold, who stays, and who goes to their "summer jobs" at Blue Heron Farm (http://www.blueherontexas.com/) or Caprino Royale (http://caprinoroyale.com/). Leaving this weekend for their summer jobs with Lisa and Christian Seger at Blue Heron will be Fantasia and Tawanda. Bonnie will be heading down there as well until her new mom can pick her up at the end of June. Sage traveled north last weekend to live with Karen Dierolf and Eric Tippitt at Caprino Royale. Ten doelings will be staying on with us to see how they look as they grow into young ladies, and the others have been sold to homes in Texas, Arkansas and Indiana.

Welcome!

This is my first try at blogging so we'll just have to see how it goes. I wanted to set up something that would allow me to keep visitors to our website updated with goings-on around the farm and this seemed like the easiest way.

Kidding season is drawing to a close now with only three does left to kid. I tried to get everyone bred so they would kid before the end of May but, as usual, there were a couple of hold-outs (Frolic and Thyme) who decided they needed to wait until June. Otherwise, everyone agreed to the plan. We've had 23 bucks born so far this year and 20 does.

We had a light show season this Spring but managed to finish Cinnamon at the Decatur show. Belle continued her winning ways being named Best of Breed in one ring at Decatur and Best Doe in Show in one ring at Little Rock. We're now looking forward to the South Central Texas Goat Club Show in Brenham at the end of the month, the Central Texas Dairy Goat Association Show the first week in June, and then the biggie, the American Dairy Goat Association National Show in Louisville, KY towards the end of June.
