Very pregnant goat

Welcome to the Web home of TLC Farms Nubian Dairy Goats and TLC Farms Goat Milk Soaps & Body Care Products. We are located approximately 40 miles north of Bryan, Texas on 15 acres of rolling post oak savannah. Our "family" consists of our herd of Nubian dairy goats, plus numerous cats, dogs, chickens, ducks and a pair of donkeys.

Caroline and goats

Tom and I have been raising goats since 1992, and I have been a member of the American Dairy Goat Association since 1994. As many people do, we bought our first goats to have as pets, but soon decided we wanted to improve upon what we started with. To that end, we are continually striving to produce what for us is the "perfect" Nubian—one that excels in both the show ring and the milk parlor. Although my work schedule has prevented us from taking part in ADGA’s DHIR “milk test” program, we do participate in Linear Appraisal every year or two as well as one-day milk tests whenever they are available. Several of our does have earned their milking stars through these one-day tests.

We test annually for CAE and have had a CAE/CL negative herd for many years. Our animals are fed a 16% concentrate ration and Sudan hay plus free-choice minerals, and they are vaccinated and dewormed regularly. These days, all of our kids are removed from their dams at birth and hand raised.

In 2002, we began making goat milk soap with the excess milk from the does, and the business took off in a big way. Today TLC Farms goat milk soaps and other body care products can be found in numerous stores in South/Central Texas as well as on our website.

In 2005 we were very fortunate to acquire two bucks from Karen Senn, Kastdemur’s Next Key and Kastdemur’s Oh Zanzibar. As expected, both had a major impact on the quality of the Nubians being born into our herd. In 2008 we added a third Kastdemur buck to our herd, Kastdemur’s Viento (a.k.a.Vinnie), who has complemented those genetics. In 2010, wanting a bit of an outcross while staying within the same bloodlines somewhat, we added three junior herdsires, Miabella PS Nick at Night, M’s Sagebrush MK Klass Action, and Alize Take It To The Limit. All three have Kastdemurs in their backgrounds as well as the Wingwood Farm and 4B lines that we have used for many years.

We travel to five or six shows each year, and several of our does have finished their championships—TLC-Farms SK Jamie Lee, TLC-Farms Sam’s Belle Starr, and 4B Celebrity Cinnamon Pudding. In 2008 we made our first trip to the American Dairy Goat Association’s National Dairy Goat Show, held in Louisville, Kentucky, and five of the eight does that made the trip finished in the top ten in their respective classes. In 2010 we traveled to our second ADGA National Dairy Goat Show, also held in Louisville, and again placed well with the girls, showing seven milkers and two juniors. Five of those placed in the top ten, with one third place, one fifth place, and one sixth place.
